Chapter 1

Barriers to Healing and Why We Resist

Coach Tip

Hey y’all, welcome back to The Wise Way. I’m Coach Tip, and today we’re diving into something that’s honestly not easy for most of us to talk about—why we resist healing in the first place. I mean, let’s be real, it’s not like anybody wakes up and says, “You know what? I wanna stay stuck in my pain today.” But there are these barriers—shame, fear, feeling unworthy—that just kinda sneak in and keep us from even reaching for healing. Growing up without a support system, I learned early to just tough it out. My grandparents did their best, but there was this unspoken rule: don’t show weakness, don’t talk about what hurts. And I know for a lot of folks, in many families, there’s this expectation to be strong, to keep silent, to just keep moving. But what does that do to us? How do those old wounds shape our willingness to heal? And what about the expectations—either from our families or from ourselves—that hold us back? I want you to think about that as we move forward. Are you carrying something that’s not even yours to carry? Or maybe you’re just tired of pretending you’re okay when you’re not. I get it. I’ve been there. And I want you to know, you’re not alone in that struggle.

Chapter 2

The Biblical Foundation of Healing

Coach Tip

Now, let’s talk about what the Bible actually says about healing, because sometimes we get this idea that God only cares about our spiritual life, but not our pain. But y’all, Luke 4:18 says, “He has sent me to heal the brokenhearted.” That’s Jesus talking. And Psalm 147:3? “He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds.” God’s heart is for our healing—body, mind, and spirit. Jesus didn’t just walk around preaching; He was out there healing people, touching the untouchable, loving the unlovable. And He showed us that healing isn’t just about the physical stuff—it’s about our hearts, our stories, our scars. Sometimes healing comes through tears, but sometimes it comes through laughter, too. So, how does scripture challenge what you think about healing? And what would it look like to actually trust God with your deepest wounds, not just the ones you’re comfortable sharing?

Chapter 3

Healing as a Path to Purpose and Wholeness

Coach Tip

Here’s the truth—healing isn’t just about feeling better. It’s about stepping into your purpose. When you allow God into those broken places, you begin to see yourself the way He sees you: whole, loved, worthy. I had a client, Lucía, who, after group therapy, finally recognized herself as a leader. She’d always been the quiet one, the one in the back. But healing gave her the courage to step up and lead others. And I always say, God never wastes a story. Not yours, not mine. Every scar, every setback, is all part of the bigger picture. So, what are some practical steps? Find your people—community is huge. Pray, even if it’s messy. Therapy, journaling, whatever helps you process. And don’t forget those spiritual disciplines—reading scripture, worship, just sitting with God. Healing is a journey, not a one-time event.

Chapter 4

Embracing Vulnerability and Building Resilience

Coach Tip

Vulnerability—man, that’s a tough one. But it’s so necessary. When you open up, whether it’s to a trusted friend or to God, you give yourself permission to heal. It’s scary, but it’s also freeing. And then there’s resilience. Healing isn’t a straight line. You’re gonna have setbacks. You’re gonna have days where you feel like you’re back at square one. But those are the moments that build your strength. I always tell folks, start a gratitude practice. Write down one thing you’re thankful for every day. Set boundaries—protect your peace. And above all, trust that God is faithful, even when you can’t see the way forward. That’s how you build resilience, one day at a time.

Chapter 5

Walking in Faith and Continuing the Healing Journey

Coach Tip

So, how do we keep going? It’s about daily practices—prayer, meditation, just spending time with God. That’s what keeps you grounded. And serving others? That’s healing, too. Whether you’re volunteering, mentoring, or just being there for someone who needs a friend, you’re living out your purpose. Journaling is another big one for me. It helps you see how far you’ve come and where God is still working. Take time to reflect, to notice the progress, and to ask God what’s next. Healing is ongoing, and that’s okay.

Chapter 6

Celebrating Growth and Embracing Future Steps

Coach Tip

Don’t forget to celebrate the small wins. Every step forward is a victory. Maybe you finally set a boundary, or you opened up to someone for the first time. That matters. Set goals for your spiritual and personal growth—keep moving forward, even if it’s slow. And take a moment to reflect: where are you on your healing path? What’s the next step God’s asking you to take? Trust Him with it. Depend on His guidance, even when it feels uncertain.

Chapter 7

Living Out Healing in Daily Life

Coach Tip

Let’s get practical. What does healing look like day-to-day? Maybe it’s a morning prayer routine or keeping a gratitude journal. Maybe it’s just taking a few minutes to reflect on where you’re at. Get involved in community—support groups, faith-based gatherings, whatever helps you stay connected and accountable. And here’s something I love: write a personal mission statement or affirmation. Something that reminds you of your growth and your purpose. Put it somewhere you’ll see it every day.

Chapter 8

Living Out Healing in Daily Life

Coach Tip

Alright, as we wrap up, I want to encourage you to build a daily routine that keeps you anchored—prayer, scripture, gratitude journaling. Make community a priority, whether that’s a support group, church, or just a few trusted friends. And don’t forget your affirmation or mission statement—let it remind you of how far you’ve come and where you’re headed. Healing is a journey, not a destination. Keep showing up, keep trusting God, and remember—He never wastes a story, especially not yours. Thanks for joining me today, and I’ll see you next time on The Wise Way.
